Spin New to Practice

The Northwest London SPIN New To Practice Fellowship


Is a two year supported opportunity for newly qualified GPs and GPN’s to create roots in general practices as a salaried employees, while simultaneously pursuing their passion in alternative service improvement, leadership or clinical settings. The Fellows are also offered one paid session per month to embed their portfolio work, mentorship support and educational training to facilitate their professional growth.

 

The SPIN Health and Wellbeing Fellowship


Is a one year supported opportunity for newly qualified GPs to work in general practice and gain a PGCert in Health and Wellbeing from the University of Canterbury Christchurch. The Fellows are also offered one paid session per month to embed their portfolio work in their Primary Care Networks. Fellows are also offered mentorship support via the North West London Clinical Programme Director for Fellowships.

 

Requirements


The programme is open to newly qualified GP or GPN who:

  • Qualified within the last 12 months (potentially up to 18 months if they have taken significant maternity/parental/adoptive or sick leave; or if they are on the GPN Academic or Foundation Programme).
  • will be due to qualify soon in anticipation of taking a substantive post in a practice, a PCN, cluster of PCNs or another body
  • holds a substantive (minimum of 4 session) salaried role in a GP Practice in NW London post (not a locum) (They may be employed by a practice, across a PCN, cluster of PCNs or another body)
  • work to provide primary medical services within a Northwest London borough (Brent, Ealing, Central, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Harrow & West).

Funding


Your salary for your salaried role will be set by the practice you are employed by. The salary for your portfolio role will also differ for each fellowship, the below tables show how the funding for the fellowships are broken down:

GPs

1 session CPD per fellow per annum

£9.500 pro rata per annum

On costs for 1 CPD session (25%) (to employer)

£2,500 pro rata per annum

GPNs

1 session CPD per fellow per annum

£3,800 pro rata per annum

On costs for 1 CPD session (30%) (to employer)

£1,140 pro rata per annum
