North West London CCG appoints new Chair

Dr James Cavanagh has been appointed as the new interim Chair of North West London Clinical Commissioning Group.
Dr Cavanagh was elected by his fellow GPs in line with the CCG constitution, following the retirement of his predecessor, Dr Mohini Parmar. He is a GP at Brook Green Medical Centre and is the GP borough director for Hammersmith and Fulham. He takes up the role immediately and is expected to be the last Chair of North West London CCG, pending national legislation to abolish CCGs and introduce a North West London Integrated Care Board.
Dr Cavanagh said:
“I’m honoured to be elected by my colleagues to navigate the CCG through these next few weeks. There are huge challenges ahead in North West London as our primary care, hospital, mental health and community services strive to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. GPs and primary care professionals are determined to tackle the backlog and give our patients the help and support they need after a very challenging period for us all.”
Rob Hurd, chief executive of the North West London Integrated Care System – which brings together all NHS and local authority organisations in North West London, said:
“James is an experienced GP and leader and we are delighted to have a clinical leader of his calibre leading the CCG through what we expect to be its last few months. GPs and primary care will continue to play a full part in the integrated care board and system, and James’ leadership will be critical to enabling the transition to new governance arrangements.”
