Find out more about NHS Test and Trace
Published on: 26th August 2020
The NHS Test and Trace programme is designed to help slow the spread of coronavirus. The more people who use the programme, the safer NW London will be for us all.
The symptoms of coronavirus are a high temperature or a new, continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste. If you have one or more of these symptoms, then you need to self-isolate to protect others. Do not leave your home other than to get a test.
The test can be booked or ordered as soon as symptoms begin at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
If you test positive you will be contacted by the NHS Test and Trace programme, and they will help you to identify who you have been in close contact with and who you might have infected.
If you test negative then you and the people you live with will no longer need to self-isolate.
What should I do if I am contacted by the service as having been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus?
These contacts will have to self-isolate for 14 days to prevent wider infection spread. You must do it even if you don't have symptoms or you feel perfectly well, as you may still have the virus even if you have no symptoms. You could still spread it to others.
For further information, Hounslow Council and Hounslow CCG have produced some videos about the Test and Trace system in English and five community languages (Punjabi, Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi and Polish) that are useful for all London residents.
