Coronavirus (COVID-19) update from North West London NHS - 12 October 2020
Published on: 13th October 2020
Don't delay! Have your flu vaccination today
October is now upon us and the challenges of winter lie ahead. We all must be prepared and one of the things those most at risk from flu can do to help the NHS, is have your free vaccination as soon as possible. You can get it either from your GP or your local pharmacy. We open the newsletter with all of the information you need about who should get the vaccination as a priority and how to get it. This includes information for parents on getting the vaccination for children.
In the past few weeks the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has risen and everyone needs to take action now to protect our loved ones and our community.
The NHS has plans in place to support care homes, primary, community, mental health and hospital care. We will continue to treat patients safely and effectively, separating those with Coronavirus from those that do not, whenever possible.
You can play your part by following Public Health advice:
- Wash your hands frequently, with soap and water, for 20 seconds
- Remember to ‘social distance’ when in public areas – keep at least two metres away from people you don’t live with if you can
- Wear a face covering on public transport, in shops and in supermarkets
- If you have any symptoms of coronavirus (a new continuous cough, a high temperature, or a loss of/change in taste or smell) please immediately self-isolate and book a free test online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
Information and support is available for people who are recovering from Covid-19, their families and carers. You can access information about recovery at: www.yourcovidrecovery.nhs.uk.
In this week’s issue we also tell you about the new NHS Covid-19 app, 111 First and the Same Day Emergency Care services.
We are pleased to announce that Hammersmith Hospital UTC has reinstated a service onsite, bookable via 111. We bring you the details.
